- ■There were 689 bankruptcies (down 1.3% year-on-year), marking the sixth consecutive month of year-on-year decrease. Liabilities totaled 102,284 million yen (down 0.4% year-on-year), marking the fourth consecutive month of year-on-year decrease.
- ■By industry, the number of bankruptcies decreased year-on-year in five of seven industries. Of these, two industries—the construction industry (125 bankruptcies, down 11.3% year-on-year) and the manufacturing industry (75, down 12.8% year-on-year)—marked double digit year-on-year decreases. Meanwhile, two industries saw year-on-year increases, with the retail industry (174, up 16.8% year-on-year) marking the highest number this year.
- ■In terms of primary cause, recession-induced bankruptcies numbered 548 (down 3.5% year-on-year), lower than the same month of the previous year for the sixth consecutive month. They accounted for 79.5% (down 1.9 points year-on-year) of all bankruptcies.
- ■In terms of scale, bankruptcies totaling less than 50 million yen numbered 451 (up 4.9% year-on-year). These made up 65.5% of all bankruptcies, and the trend in which small-scale bankruptcies account for the majority continued. By capitalization, the number of bankruptcies with capital of less than 10 million yen (including self-operated companies) came to 456, accounting for 66.2% of all bankruptcies.
- ■By region, four of nine regions experienced year-on-year declines. Of these, Hokkaido (14 bankruptcies, down 41.7% year-on-year) saw a year-on-year decrease for the eighth consecutive month, while Chubu (102, down 8.9% year-on-year) and Kinki (153, down 11.0% year-on-year) did for the third consecutive month.
- ■The largest amount of liabilities was posted by Rensen Co., Ltd. (Wakayama, bankruptcy) with liabilities of 8,890 million yen.
