There were 537 bankruptcies, a significant decrease due partly to the reactionary increase in June last year.
Liabilities totaled 72,583 million yen, marking the lowest figure for June ever.

Highlight and Outstanding Feature
- ■There were 537 bankruptcies (down 33.4% year-on-year), year-on year decrease for the first time in two months due partly to the reactionary increase in June last year. This was the lowest number of bankruptcies in June, and was the first time a rate of decrease of more than 30% was seen.
- ■Liabilities totaled 72,583 million yen (up 42.6% year-on-year), marking the first year-on-year decrease in two months. This was the lowest amount ever in June, and the smallest in 2021, lower than the amount in February (77,745 million yen).
- ■By industry, the number of bankruptcies largely decreased by double digits or more year-on-year in six of seven industries. Of these, in the real estate industry (20 bankruptcies, down 42.9% year-on-year) bankruptcies of companies in the real estate agency/brokerage business (3 bankruptcies, down 72.7% year-on-year) fell by over 70% year-on-year.
- ■In terms of primary cause, recession-induced bankruptcies numbered 387 (down 39.9% year-on-year).
- ■In terms of scale, bankruptcies totaling less than 50 million yen numbered 309 (down 38.1% year-on-year). They accounted for 57.5% of the total, and it was the first time in a year and a month, since May 2020, that they fell below 60%.
- ■By region, all nine regions experienced year-on-year decreases. The largest rate of decrease was in Hokkaido (11 bankruptcies, down 57.7% year-on-year), half that of the previous year.
- ■By type, there were 493 bankruptcies (accounting for 91.8% of all business failures) and 29 special liquidations (5.4%).
- ■The largest amount of liabilities was posted by Leg Co., Ltd. (Ehime Prefecture, bankruptcy) with liabilities of approximately 6,900 million yen.
